Claims Help

When something happens,
we've got your back.

A claim is a stressful day. Here's exactly what to do, and how we help you through it — start to finish.

First, take care of the immediate stuff

Before anything insurance-related, handle safety and prevent the situation from getting worse.

  • 1.
Make sure everyone is safeGet people and pets out of harm's way. Call 911 if anyone is injured or there's a fire, gas leak, or crime.
  • 2.
Prevent further damageStop the bleeding where it's safe to — shut off water, cover a broken window, move belongings away from a leak. Keep receipts for anything you buy to do this; it's often reimbursable.
  • 3.
Document everythingTake photos and video of all damage before you clean up or repair. More is better. Note the date and time.
  • 4.
Don't toss damaged items yetThe adjuster may need to see them. Set them aside if you can.

For auto accidents

  • Move to safety, turn on hazards
  • Call the police and get a report number
  • Exchange names, insurance, and plate numbers
  • Photograph all vehicles, the scene, and any injuries
  • Don't admit fault — just exchange info and let the adjusters sort it out

How to start your claim

Two ways to get it going. Either works — and either way, we're here to help.

Call us first

We'll walk you through it, tell you whether it's worth filing, and help you open the claim with your carrier. This is the easiest path — you don't have to figure out the right department or phone tree.

Or contact your carrier directly

If it's after hours or an emergency, you can open the claim straight with your insurance company using the claims number on your policy or insurance card. Then let us know — we'll pick it up from there and stay in your corner.

Not sure who your carrier is or where to find the number? Call us and we'll point you to it.

What to have ready

  • A description of what happenedPlain facts — no need to assess fault or coverage yourself.

  • Police or fire report numberIf one was filed.
